What is Madrasah
Madrashtul Islamiyah or المدرسةُ الإسلامية in Arabic, are educational institutions or schools that focus on teaching the principles and practices of Islam to their students. They can be found in many countries around the world, especially in regions where Islam is the dominant or significant religion. However, the way the Arabic term مدرسة إسلامية is written and pronounced in different languages and dialects can vary widely.
The name Madrasa Islamia in Arabic is مدرسة إسلامية but it can be spelled and pronounced differently in other languages and dialects. Some of the common variations are Madrasa Islamia, Madrasahtul Islamiyah, Madrasah, Madrassa, Madrisa, Medresa, Madraza, and Medrese. These variations reflect the diversity and richness of the Islamic culture and heritage.
At Madrashtul Islamiyah, we have chosen to write the Arabic term for “ مدرسة إسلامية” as “Madrashtul Islamiyah”, which we believe is the most grammatically correct and accurate way of transliterating it. Whether you call it Madrasa Islamia or Madrasahtul Islamiyah, the meaning is the same: a place where students learn about Islam and its teachings.
Madrasahtul Islamiyah is more than just an Islamic elementary school in Wellington, New Zealand. It is also a place where our students learn to bring value to the community through their Islamic values, character, and knowledge.
The Madrasah’s mission is to foster a strong Islamic identity and a deep understanding of Islam’s teachings among its students.
Divine Investment
The greatest investment that any community can make is to invest in its children. If we invest in today’s children and develop them into people who are firm in their Emaan (faith), who cherish human values, who honour their parents & elders and become a treasured asset to the society – then such an investment will earn tremendous returns to their parents and benefit the entire Ummah.
